Tragedy To Triumph

I’ve gotten use to being on display. Whether it’s the child studying my wheelchair, the senior citizen across the way smiling sympathetically or the waitress moving chairs away from the table so my wheelchair will have room. I am aware that people are watching. Some might watch out of pity and others out of admiration. I sense that all watch with unspoken questions. It’s a part of the territory that comes with a disability. It’s what I live everyday. However, being a follower of Jesus Christ I choose to think that people’s unspoken questions are, for the most part, good natured. We as Christians are called to be on display maybe me more than most others because God has given me a unique platform to preach His Word from a wheelchair. When people see me on stage sitting in my wheelchair proclaiming the Gospel, I believe they are thinking, “How great his God must be to inspire such faith and confidence.” I don’t mind being on display if my story lifts Jesus Christ up and inspires others to appreciate their own lives. The man whose autobiography you hold in your hands may be lacking literal use of his legs but isn’t it ironic that God would use a parapalegic to move others down the aisle to trust Jesus Christ?
